I typed in chkdsk /p and hit enter. -- It took some time for CHKDSK to do its work, probably 10 minutes. I monitor EventVWR for errors frequently and nothing cropped up. It won't go into safe mode either. Just try my simple suggesions and you will get back your data before re-installing the windows.
