Anyway, I did the Bump-the-USB, the canned air all over and into every opening on the camera,and wiggled the lens and now it works! But if you are still within the warranty period I would do that before taking more invasive measures such as giving the lens a nice hard bump. Very dissapointing to have this error when needed for work.Switched batteries and had the same issues. It's now firmly in place and the camera works again perfectly. news I sent it to a local Canon representative for warranty service, and received it back a couple of weeks later, fixed.

Then I turned it on again, when the error message popped up I held down the play button that looks like a triangle in a square and the Function set button I didn't think it would. I put the screw back and the camera works like a charm. More about the author I would not try forcing it in any way like some stated.

Zooming in while powering and zooming out and also turning it off in between seemed to get it finally. I have my camera back again!Thanks to this site. So I can't get a good grip on the lens barrel to try to pull it out. I can heard a "clack" from the interior and now my camera work again.
