Was this answer helpful? I looked at it, turned the Menu to Off and I was seeing through the lens. Turn off the camera. More about the author Lens popped right out (instead of beeping and saying "lens error") and functioned as normal.
You should hear a "click" as it pops back into place. It worked and while I still had the thin card around the lens I turned the camera on in hopes that I could also help pry the lens up so that Fix #1a: If new batteries didn't work, try pressing and holding the Menu, Function, Function Set, or OK button while turning the camera on. You can also use the compressed air method to clean it (repair method no. 6), or a piece of paper (method no. 7).
Tested it a few times and problem has not occurred. Lens error's are a potential problems for all digital cameras with a telescopic lens. All the best to everyone going through this.
