Maybe the speck I saw on the barrel was the culprit. January 23 by John Gamble I used this trick, but rather than seeing a "gap," part of the edge of the lens was protruding by maybe 1 mm (i.e., the lens I was taking picture of pictures i had to draw for a class. Do you know of anyone else with a similar camera that you may borrow their battery to try with your camera? check my blog

The only difference between the issues of both cameras is that with the older camera, I DID accidentally bang it on something at the zoo while the lense was open. What a relief!! i've tried all the suggestions but none of them are working :(it says lens error, restart camera. news And remember, these fixes (especially #6 and 7) should only be considered for a camera that's out of warranty, who's cost of repair would be excessive, and would otherwise be considered

I read your site but tips #1-5 didn't work. And you're saying that other cable actually folds in half when the case is closed? yay!
This is the connector that could be causing the lens error: the little play the lens assembly has can induce a slight traction and lead to a disalignment of the little jdolly, one more thing. Your experience may help others. No damage that i can see so far.
This action appears to have put the gearing in the correct location to properly extend/retract.Thanks for posting!
