Thank you guys. Turn off printer...open the cover...move cartridge all the way to the left...hit the "on" button once...close the cover. Took me a half dozen times of near starts but it kicked in and the old work horse works perfect again.Canon tech support blamed it on generic ink "of course" ... No need to destroy or burn your printer as some people posted on YouTube.What I did was to remove the printhead and washed it 2 times with hot watter. Hi,have you replaced the printhead ? I thoroughly cleaned the printhead & there is no sign of any jet burn when viewed with magnifier, all looks like new.After reassembly, unfortunately (as I have bulk ink) I'm still No need to soak or wait overnight. More about the author Turn ON power4.

Good luck J. I've tried a few of the above solutions, but so far no luck. Pulling the print head seemed to take care of the problem, although I closed the lid after it passed the 1/2 way mark. The printer can detect this situation (I guess: via an optical sensor), and when it occurs, the printer stops working.
Look like the printer's toast! Take out and clean out the print head with lots of alcohol.2. Never again a Canon! Gradually print quality has been restored as ink has flowed into the printhead cavity and to the ink jets.Work gently and be patient to solve this problem.
